01 · Map your ordinary week

Mark work, regular errands, recreation and any pickup locations on a map. Try the commute on a weekday and revisit on a weekend. Compare the time you actually spend traveling, rather than distance alone.

02 · Explore beyond the front door

The City's parks directory includes recreation facilities, open space and trails. Use official maps to find places you would actually visit, then check the route from a prospective home, street crossings and opening hours in person.

03 · Verify schools by address

If schools are part of your decision, confirm the property's district and that district's assignment for the relevant school year. IUSD provides an address-based School Locator. A neighborhood name, ZIP code or listing description is not an assignment confirmation.

04 · Compare homes consistently

Record light, layout, noise, parking, storage and maintenance at every visit. Compare HOA documents, property-specific taxes and insurance quotes alongside the home itself. A short list of non-negotiables makes the remaining trade-offs easier to discuss.

General educational information. Your transaction, financing and tax position require property-specific review with the appropriate professionals.
